1. jehovah's witnesses interferance in my parents marriage leading to mother rejecting father who could not come at the teachings.. 2. my mother taking us 500km away from father to start a new life with a much older jw man just after armageddon didnt come in 75...for teaching us that he was evil and deserved to be killed by god.. 3. bullying at school for being a jw, resulting in only one friend all through school and learning little social interaction.
leading to leaving early with no education beyond year 10.. 4. marrying way to young for love?....
5. making me feel like a demon for being human.. 6. rejection by all friends and wife because i couldn't stick it.. 7. not going back to wife because of rejection, nervous breakdown by freeing wife and believing i was now doomed to die.. 8. almost leaving my childrens lives by both suicide and disapearing.. 9. wifes support by wt to force me out of their lives and for coaching her to do this.

i looked through your posts but couldn't find your life story.
have you written it?.
i would love to read your progression from/through jw to avid scholar :).
As they say, "Knowledge is power".
You are a powerful woman.
Thank you for all your contributions.
I guess you wouldn't be interested in having your very own, dumbed down Watchtower, would you? lol
i could have called this "fee now charged to go to circuit assembly" but i do not want to start rumours that go beyond what was actually said.
the k hall announcement encouraged attendance at the upcoming assembly day.
the elder then said that since the congregation no longer has to make a blanket donation to the assembly hall it is expected that the publishers remember their responsibility to maintain the costs.
Thanks for the chuckles...hahahahaha
i'm a long time lurker, first time poster.
i think i have a similar story to others who were brought up in the so called "truth" but after reading so many stories i thought i'd finally get around to writing mine:.
like i said, i was raised into it and almost my entire immediate family where (and for the most part still are) serious members.
I like your story.
What fog most of us are engulfed in at age 18.
We honestly can't see the forest, for the trees. Seems like you could see the trees, at a very early age.
There were 6 girls from our hall that got baptized at the same time.
ALL of us raised in the truth.
ALL married in the "Lord".
ALL had bad marriages.
ALL of us divorced.
If we had only known, at an early age, like you, that we were following "cruel" taskmasters, our lives and our childrens lives would/could have been so different.
i seem to remember somebody saying that since the 90's the number of elders has declined from 90000 to 60000. does anybody have any hard figures regarding this?.
the organization is desperate for "qualified" men.
but their standards are much too high, especially the monthly field service hour requirements tagged on to endless meetings and congregational busywork.
I love the intelligent information mixed with humor!
Keep it coming.
i don't see much of a difference between islamic jihadists and watchtower jihadists.. .
islamic jihadists think only they have the truth.. watchtower jihadists think only they have the truth.. islamic jihadists want to kill everyone who disagrees with their beliefs.. watchtower jihadists want god to kill everyone who disagrees with their beliefs.. any questioning of islamic jihadists' beliefs will result in death.. any questioning of watchtower jihadists' beliefs will result in death.. islamic jihadists have no problem with innocent babies and children being brutally murdered for their cause.. watchtower jihadists have no problem with innocent babies and children being brutally murdered for their cause.. islamic jihadists have wacky beliefs like those who die for their cause will be rewarded with 72 virgin women in paradise.. watchtower jihadists have wacky beliefs like those who die for their cause won't even be allowed to have sex or marry in paradise.. islamic jihadists' main cause is to have a world government administered by them.. watchtower jihadists' main cause is to have a world government administered by them.. islamic jihadists think women are chattel.. watchtower jihadists think women are chattel.. islamic jihadists sincerely believe they are engaged in a holy war.. watchtower jihadists sincerely believe they are engaged in a holy war.. when there is a dispute between an islamic jihadist and his wife, the man is always right.. when there is a dispute between a watchtower jihadist and his wife, the man is always right.. islamic jihadists hide out in caves.. watchtower jihadists hide out in kingdom halls, which aren't that much different from caves.. islamic jihadists use weapons of mass destruction.. watchtower jihadists use books of mass destruction.. islamic jihadists are always suspicious of each other.. watchtower jihadists are always suspicious of each other.. islamic jihadists have no regard for other's lives.. watchtower jihadists have no regard for other's lives.. islamic jihadists claim to belong to a religion of peace.. watchtower jihadists claim to belong to a religion of peace.. islamic jihadists instantly commit suicide by blowing themselves up.. watchtower jihadists slowly commit suicide by wasting their lives selling worthless books.. islamic jihadists punish their members by chopping off their hands.. watchtower jihadists punish their members by chopping off their families and friends.. you can't reason with an islamic jihadist.
his mind is made up.. you can't reason with a watchtower jihadist.
Farkel,
I like what you wrote. Some of the thoughts/comparsions were whirling around in my head. Your list was way bigger than mine though.
Good/great job!
PS. About the Twist.
How much do you want to bet, the vast amount of people on this website wern't even born yet in the early 1960's and have no idea that the Watchtower, at that time,
wrote an article that JW's do NOT do the Twist!
It is/was a sexual/fertility dance of the "Wa-two-sees" tribe in Africa, they wrote, if I recall correctly, on the back page or just inside page of a 1960, 1961 or 1962 Watchtower,
questions from readers. That article really put a damper on our parties. Thankfully, the Beach Boys plus Jan and Dean and others, soon came out, and we all started
dancing the Surfer Stomp.
I never heard of anyone getting DF'ed for Twisting on the dance floor.
Mostly people got DF'ed for "Twisting the Night Away" (as Chubby Checker sang it) because of doing it in a more "horizontal" position. lol
finally opened my eyes about a month ago.. born in male from texas.
mid 20's.
suffered/suffer from general anxiety which i feel is a direct result from my childhood and teenage years in the org.
Congradulations!
I am so thankful everytime I see/hear/know another person has woken up.
Welcome.
as a born in, or in at a very young age, what were your worst memories as a young jw child?.
i remember not being allowed to go to sleep in the meetings when i was tired.
not being allowed to do lots of things at school other kids could do.
I have appreciated reading what others have gone thru.
Some stories have made me laugh, but mostly it is all too sad.
The society has taken so much from us.
My mother had affairs with elders (servants) in our congregation.
Her long time boyfriend, his, 1/2 brother, was a pedophile.
When they would visit together, dad was at work, older kids at school. She got the brother she wanted and would send the other to my room. There was nothing I could do. I realized if I told, no one would believe me. My mom beat on me all the time as it was. I kind of numbed out. A short time boyfriend of hers was our presiding overseer. The other was our book study "servant". Mom was all about appearing righteous. She pioneered every April and Oct and commented a lot. She and dad died as "faithful" dubs. Her long time boyfriend/lover died as a faithful elder. The pedophile died a faithful door to door dub. And me. I am trying to hold my life together.
they mean the leadership.
all of this is code for: one who is not ready to really study and accept how the leadership of jehovah's witnesses use the bible to their own self serving means.
but to be fair, jw's teach that most all of these characters refer to the leadership of jehovah's witnesses, the governing body.
Jeff,
Thank you for your candid posts. I am glad you were courageous enough to stop and not continue as a disenchanted/disheartened elder when you realized we were "Followers of the LIE" not "Followers of the Truth".
tonight's sunset is as spectacular as any i had ever viewed from the kitchen window in my former, beloved home-sweet-home.. a tiny abode it was compared to my current habitation.
no longer within a mere four wooden walls of plain aspect and diminutive scale, i now am lost in a seeming infinite architectural spread that reaches toward earth's four points, an edifice of four expansive levels that demand i walk, climb, explore every one of thousands of hidden nooks and crannies.
i am compelled to do this but find no joy in discovery.
Today, at the grocery store, I was standing next to a good looking tall guy and I had to control myself from putting my hand up under his loose shirt and caressing his warm back.
How long, do I have to live this way? I don't want all guys. Just my own man. If they are tall and clean and smell nice, I'm a goner.
I've been a good witness all my life. I'm going thru a divorce with an abusive (not an) elder (now). I thought I was being a more spiritual person, more faithful to Jah, because I said a vow and wouldn't break my marriage vow, no matter what. But his abuse was killing me. I had to leave. No love life is killing me now.
